FEEDBACK: Letters on Linda Ketner, gun violence

Ketner deserves award

To the editor:

Linda Ketner is especially deserving to be recognized and thanked for her tireless advocacy that is at the heart of who she is and has stood for all her life.   Linda has been an unshakeable champion for fairness and equality.    This deeply-felt purpose has even prompted her to seek elected office when she felt we had few alternatives for progressive leadership in so many needed areas.

Linda has seen needs and she has stood up to do something about it and inspired others to do the same.   Our community and many unprivileged adults, families and children have had their lives and opportunities improved as she has shined her bright light on hunger, illiteracy and poor education, and prejudice.

We need more Linda Ketners and I hope that she will continue to inspire the best in all of us to make a difference.

Past time for action to curb gun violence

To the editor:

Great article, Andy Brack. It is past time for action on a variety of matters that each, cumulatively, will bring about a reduction in gun violence.

The best research shows that universal background checks will make the greatest impact but only if the reporting system is fully implemented. People who are concerned can go to ARM-in-ARM SC’s website for up-to-date and easy-to-use information on the status of bills and when they are being considered.

Write your senators and representatives and tell them you expect them to change in response to overwhelming public opinion. Contact information for them should be on the website as well. Call them if you do not have time to write.
