REVIEW: Longmire (TV series)

00icon_recommendedWesterns are not really my favorite, but the TV series “Longmire” is an exception. This series is set in present day Wyoming, though it’s actually filmed in New Mexico. The scenery is quite rugged and beautiful.

A craggy and wrinkled soul, Walt Longmire is a sheriff trying to deal with the murder of his wife and the crimes of his county. Robert Taylor is an Australian actor who does a good job playing Longmire. Lou Diamond Phillips plays Henry Standing Bear, Longmire’s best friend. They must cope with crime on the Indian reservation, where they do not have jurisdiction. There are some likable characters in the cast who add depth and wit to the series.

There are three seasons of “Longmire” on DVD. A&E did not renew for a fourth season, but it is available on Netflix streaming, and the fifth season will be available sometime in the future.
