MYSTERY: Airplane on a stick

Since you’ve had a couple of pretty easy weeks at the mystery photo, here’s something that is pretty tough — an airplane sculpture on a pole that contributing photographer Michael Kaynard snapped recently on a trip down a rural road. Hint: It’s not in Charleston County, but is within 100 miles or so. Send your best guess to: editor@charlestoncurrents.com — and make sure to include the name of the town in which you live.

16.0207.demoLast week’s mystery photo came from the good folks at Santee Cooper who offered a riveting photo by Jim Huff of a pair of 300-foot-tall smokestacks tumbling down during the demolition of the Grainger Generation Station in Conway, a coal-fired power plant that was retired at the end of 2012. We had lots of guesses — mostly before The Post and Courier published the photo on Tuesday. Among those guessing correctly were: Chris Brooks of Mount Pleasant; Joey DuRant of Hemingway; Deborah Getter, Patricia Chaney and Legare Clement of Johns Island; Suzan Carroll-Ramsey and Claire Gibbons of Charleston; Marnie Huger of Richmond, Va.; and Chalmers Mikell of Orangeburg. Thanks one and all!
