Staff reports  |  The South Carolina Aquarium, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, and the Charleston Water Taxi have announced a new, joint promotion: the Charleston Waterfront Pass. For the first time, the three organizations have partnered to create a special pass that is perfect for families and visitors who want to see two of the top Charleston-area attractions and enjoy a boat ride across the harbor.

GOOD NEWS:  Marine gets Bronze Star 48 years after battle, more

Staff reports  |  Retired Marine Brig. Gen. William Weise pinned a Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” device  for heroic actions on former Lance Corporal Michael G. Castle in an Aug. 3 ceremony on the USS Yorktown some 48 years after a 1969 battle in Vietnam.

Staff reports | Looking for what to do on July 4? The Lowcountry, with one of the nation’s longest and strongest links to American history, offers everything from fireworks viewing and partying to a special history fair at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.

The history fair, which is free with regular admission from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 4, will showcase 24 historic organizations and institutions, including Fort Moultrie, site of the nation’s first victory of the Revolutionary War.
