BRACK: Help your community by getting vaccinated

By Andy Brack, editor and publisher  |  Charter schools, by their very nature, have governing boards made up of parents.  They’re publicly funded, which requires them to follow general state education rules and keeps teachers in the state system, but the schools also are independent operationally from county school boards. South Carolina has about 75, which is about 1 percent of the nation’s charter schools.

BRACK: Why getting vaccinated is more important than ever

By Andy Brack, editor and publisher  |  The number of new South Carolina cases of people getting COVID-19 has dropped significantly with 122 new cases one recent day, 71 new cases the day before.  Daily deaths across the state have dropped from the double digits to just a few.  The percentage of positive tests is now below 5 percent, the magic number indicating the disease is being managed.

While being vaccinated will give one a high level of personal protection against the highly infectious disease, it also helps to dampen its spread around the state.

BRACK: Vaccinations dampening virus, but pandemic ain’t over yet

By Andy Brack | Normalcy is slowly approaching after the lost year of COVID-19.  As of Thursday, the state had received 2.5 million doses of vaccine. Medical professionals so far have administered 1.8 million doses, which means the state has used 72 percent of the on-hand supply that is continuing to come into the Palmetto State.
