Now that my selling days are quickly coming to a close, I received one of the nicest compliments about my work.

It’s a big deal to many when a movie crew comes here to film, as is the case with recent activity downtown with the Marlon Wayans movie, “Naked.” It’s new. It’s different.
But people’s lives have to go on, in spite of everything associated with movie crews, which cause streets to be blocked, traffic to be rerouted and local businesses reliant on tourism to see smaller numbers of people in shops. Contributing photographer Michael Kaynard recently found parking spaces and lots full with film trucks and other vehicle.

Decades ago, due to limitations in communications, the best way to reach large groups was through rallies and TV ads. Today with the Internet, one can reach huge numbers of people almost instantaneously. …”
By Andy Brack, editor and publisher | Every one will have a different way of remembering Hurricane Matthew, which got everybody’s attention after it killed hundreds in Haiti on its way north to make a tempestuous landfall in South Carolina.
From now until eternity, I’m sure that every time I encounter a chocolate-covered almond, I’ll remember eating them while waiting out the storm in Georgia at my parent’s home with my daughters in the Atlanta area. My dad had a Costco-sized container full of them that we all ate until they were gone, And then another container miraculously appeared.
One daughter says she’ll likely remember visiting her grandparents whenever asked about Hurricane Matthew. Another daughter predicts she’ll recall worrying about the fate of our home in Charleston as the storm blew through.
