Judy Carberry, Charleston: “Why not have the people vote on the bike lane in lieu of having the council decide everyone’s wishes? The entire time that lane was shut down, there were precious few people riding bikes, especially during the rush hour. I saw the picture of three bikes and how many cars? I would be interested to know how many days someone had to wait to even get a picture of the three riders. “

Judy Carberry, Charleston: “What is the old saying – what goes around, comes around? Maybe a new ferry system would provide people with a pleasant commute and lighten the traffic issues? Judy Carberry: Unfortunately, what that video [of the Ashley River bike lane experiment] does not clearly illustrate is that the exit to Lockwood is down to one lane. Before this was in place, there were two lanes for exiting — those going to the hospitals and those of us going further downtown.

After sitting in traffic yesterday morning in the rain for 1 hour and 40 minutes to travel the 14.4 from my house to Meeting St., I find it hard to believe that the “Good News” is a bicycle lane on the James Island extension.
