MYSTERY: This should be an easy one

MYSTERY: This should be an easy one

After the tough mystery in the last issue, this week’s photo of sun warming the walls of this home should be pretty easy. Send your best guess to: editor@charlestoncurrents.com — and make sure to include the name of the town in which you live.

PHOTO: Angel in Magnolia

PHOTO: Angel in Magnolia

This stone angel is at peace in a peaceful place, Magnolia Cemetery, in Charleston. Draped in Spanish moss, the angel seems to be responding in reverence to the calm of the historic resting ground to many of Charleston’s early leaders. In the background, you can see marshes that lead to the Cooper River. Photo by Andy Brack.

You’ve got to love this colorful, watermelon-themed bicycle parked on a street in Florence, Italy. How Italian! How uplifting!

This photo and others below are by Charleston’s Cynthia Bledsoe, who has a photographic eye we’ve long admired. When we learned she was headed to Italy recently for a vacation, we asked her to share some of her favorite travel pictures with us to give us a taste and feel of Italy. You won’t be disappointed starting with some photos from Tuscany and Umbria in the north and followed by images from the Sorrento area south of Naples. Thanks, Cynthia!

This time, he found a duck and her seven — or eight — ducklings. How many do you see?

MYSTERY: Something’s missing

MYSTERY: Something’s missing

In photography, “cropping” is the practice of slicing away parts of a photo that aren’t wanted so the viewer will focus on what the photographer things is important. But it also can be used to obscure, as we’ve done this week with an image snapped by contributor Michael Kaynard.
