MYSTERY PHOTO: Swampy clue

MYSTERY PHOTO: Swampy clue

This must be in a swamp, if you believe the sign.  But where? Send your guess to editor@charlestoncurrents.com. And don’t forget to include your name and the town in which you live.

Our previous Mystery Photo: Our April 29 mystery, “Green art,” came from longtime photographer and reader Charles Boyd of Hanahan, who spied the topiary in Walterboro near a body shop.  It wasn’t, as many guessed, in Bishopville where artist Pearl Fryar has a world-renowned field of carved shrubs and trees.

Our previous Mystery Photo: Our April 8 mystery, “This mystery may be too tough” was a beach scene sent in by Hanahan reader Chuck Boyd.  And it was pretty tough as only two people guessed correctly that it was a sign on the Folly Beach fishing pier pointing to an artificial reef.

This building might look familiar to some readers in the Lowcountry.  What and where is it? (Note: We blurred part of it to make it a little harder to identify.) Send your guess to mailto:editor@charlestoncurrents.com. And don’t forget to include your name and the town in which you live.

Our previous Mystery Photo: Our March 25 mystery, “Not for climbing purposes,” got two kinds of guesses.  Some folks thought the pink and gray elephants were at South of the Border near Dillon on Interstate 95.  Great guess. Unfortunately, they were wrong – although a pink elephant really is the kind of thing that should be at the attraction.  Others correctly guessed Papa Joe’s Fireworks in Hardeeville near the other end of the interstate (exit 5) in South Carolina.

MYSTERY PHOTO: Who’s the old guy>?

This long-dead South Carolinian isn’t someone you might recognize easily.  But there’s a pretty good bet he was pretty important to the United States at some point in his life.  Who is he?  end your guess to:  editor@charlestoncurrents.com.  And don’t forget to include your name and the town in which you live.

Our previous mystery, “Curly hair,” is a bust in the Gibbes Museum of Art on in front gallery under the Tiffany-style dome that is of George Washington in a Roman style by an Italian sculptor. FYI: If Washington were alive, he’d turn 287 on Feb. 22!
