Staff reports | Don’t be late for the Mad Hatter Tea Party at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens on Saturday, March 25, near the horticultural maze.
The four-hour event starts at 11 a.m. and is designed for children three to 12 years old. The maze area will be become a wonderland of entertainment including a giant chess set, flamingo croquet, face painting, photo booth, games, refreshments and more. Prizes will be given for the best costumes.

Staff reports | Charleston County residents will have the opportunity to view new preliminary flood maps and ask questions about potential impacts to their property in meetings this month in North Charleston, Charleston and Mount Pleasant. If new flood maps show your property to be higher than current maps, your flood insurance rates could go down.
Staff reports | North Charleston will host the Lowcountry’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebration from noon to 6 p.m. March 11 in its Olde Village near Park Circle.
The celebration’s Block Party, which will be on East Montague Avenue between Virginia and Jenkins avenues, will feature live music across three stages, street vending and fare from Olde North Charleston restaurants, additional local food vendors, a Kid’s Zone with jump castles, face painting and inflatable obstacle course, charity partner booths, a bungee trampoline, a fire truck, as well as the always favorite mechanical bull. Award-winning historian David McCullough will reprise a White House performance done with musician Ed Wise at the 100th anniversary celebration of the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge. Beauty and the Beast: 7:30 p.m., Feb. 10, Sottile Theatre, 44 George St., Charleston. The South Carolina Ballet will present one performance of this love story that’s perfect for all ages.
