County and library officials unveiled a sign today at the location of a new library branch that will be built in Carolina Park off U.S. Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant.
Pictured from left are Andy Brack, chair of the Charleston County Public Library Board of Trustees, County Council member Herb Sass of Mount Pleasant and County Council Chair Elliott Summey of North Charleston.
Voters passed a $108.5 million referendum two years ago to build five new libraries and renovate 13 others. While none of the new libraries are under construction yet, architects and designers are on the job and working on plans. Groundbreakings for libraries in Mount Pleasant and James Island are expected next spring.
Signs also are to go up this month on James Island and Hollywood at new locations, as well as at a support services building being converted for administrative space.
In the photo, provided by the library, also note the colorful new library logo on the right side of the sign.
