If you traveled during the Thanksgiving holiday, you might have seen this lighthouse. Or you could remember it from a previous spot of traveling. Where is this photo sent in by veteran photo sleuth George Graf of Palmyra, Va.? Send your best guess to: editor@charlestoncurrents.com — and make sure to include the name of the town in which you live.
Last week’s Mystery Photo was supposed to be so tough that no one could guess it. It’s a small, former gas station from the 1940s outside Little Rock, Ark., that has been restored. We know about it because it’s where a parent as a 10-year-old purchased candy for herself and cigarettes for her mother!
Only Graf got the correct location for the mystery. Answer: The Roundtop Filling Station, in Sherwood, Ark. He writes that it was built in 1936 by Pierce Oil Company and now is on the National Register of Historic Places. More info.
