Nonfiction by Jennifer Keishin Armstrong
The conceit of this nonfiction book about the hit 90’s sitcom Seinfeld is that Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld and the writers of the show were able to create a strange cross-dimensional plateau where the lines between real lives and fictional characters meet and those lines become blurred.
Armstrong mainly displays this concept by examining the real life people and situations that inspired the characters and scenarios. Although interesting, the more intriguing parts of the book are about the fans (and actors who played bit parts) whose lives were affected and changed in profound ways by the series.
The author relies on the notion of Seinfeldia being an actual place way too often and repeats information in order to tell stories that are inter-connected, but the pop-culture fan should discover enough trivia and behind-the-scenes material to find this book worthwhile.
