To the editor:
No one can say that this presidential race hasn’t been interesting. I believe most will agree that it has been one of the ugliest and most divisive political cycles in modern times.
Decades ago, due to limitations in communications, the best way to reach large groups was through rallies and TV ads. Today with the Internet, one can reach huge numbers of people almost instantaneously.
It would seem that as we develop new and perhaps better ways of communicating, campaigning could also be dragged into the 21st century. There is absolutely no reason that we need to put the population through the long season leading up to the primaries and drag that out. Have all the primaries completed from first to last in 30 days. After that, hold the general election in 90 days.
All we have seen with the basically two years of political rhetoric is a greater divide between our people. None of the candidates have anything new to tell us that they could not have said months or a year ago. I know a lot of people make a ton of money off this process but I, for one, don’t know if I can stand going through this process again without totally losing my mind.
I never want to hear the phrase “breaking news” ever again.
