REVIEW: Hamilton: The Revolution

Nonfiction by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter

00icon_recommendedHamilton, winner of 11 Tony awards, is the hottest show on Broadway and has generated phenomenal interest in the Founding Fathers, as reinterpreted for modern day America.  With show tickets near-impossible to come by, it’s nice to know you can experience the history, culture and music of Hamilton at your local library.  Lin-Manuel Miranda’s interest in the life of Alexander Hamilton was sparked when reading a biography by historian Ron Chernow, but the journey from concept to stage took years.

Hamilton, the Revolution brings details of the musical to life with stage pictures, a full libretto, annotations spotlighting historical details and Miranda’s Broadway and rap music influences, and essays about the on-stage and behind-the-scenes stars who brought this musical to life.  The only thing missing is the music, but that’s OK.  CCPL library card holders can use hoopla, the library’s latest downloadable media service, to listen to the original cast recording while they read along with the book.  So believe the hype, and check out Hamilton, the book and music, today.
