By Whitney Lebron, Mount Pleasant Regional Library | Susan Ryeland, editor for London based Clover books, receives a manuscript for the latest of the well-known and loved Atticus Pünd series by a not so endearing author Alan Conway. Thinking it’ll be the same traditional formula that has proven highly successful, Susan is caught off guard when she becomes convinced that there is a hidden story of real-life greed and ambition in the manuscript.
Reviewed by Whitney Lebron: What had me grab this book off the shelf was: a) it had Lowcountry in the title, and b) the line on the back saying, “Private Investigator Liz Talbot is a modern Southern belle: she blesses hearts and takes names.”. I decided right then and there to read this book. I was not disappointed in the slightest.
A novel by Katarina Bivald
Reviewed by Whitney Lebron | Originally written in Swedish and translated into English, this debut novel by Katarina Bivald is heartwarming and endearing. Sara travels half way around the world from Sweden to Broken Wheel, Iowa, to meet her pen pal Amy, only to arrive and find out that Amy’s funeral has just ended. The townspeople of Broken Wheel take Sara under their wing, even though they find her love for books and reading a bit peculiar. Sara decides to open up a bookstore in honor of friend’s memory and to share the books she loves with the citizens of Broken Wheel.
Wolf by Wolf is an alternative history where the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule Europe and Asia. Where is Italy? Read the book to find out. It’s 1956 and time for the Axis Tour, an annual motorcycle race across their joined continents to celebrate their great victory. The winner is awarded an audience with Adolf Hitler at the Victor’s Ball in Tokyo.

This little gem of a shop is owned by Theodosia Browning and00icon_recommended is run by three unique characters: Theodosia (owner), Drayton Conneley (assistant/professional tea blender/master tea taster—and personally my favorite character in the book), and Haley Parker (shop clerk/baker/student).
