By Doug Holmes, contributing editor | 2016 was a banner year and so far, 2017 is even stronger for real estate sales in Charleston. 2016 turned out to be our second-busiest year ever with over 17,000 residential home sales. Only 2005 was stronger with almost 18,000 sales. The median sales price reached an all-time high in 2016 of $245,000.

The buying activity has continued its rampage over the last month and prices look very good, but not out of control.
JAN. 26, 2015 | The DOW is at 18,000. Wait, the Dow is at 17,200. What now, it’s back close to 18,000. Look again and low 17,000s appear to be the target. We experienced this type of rollercoaster ride just about every week in January. It’s up. It’s down. In short time frames, there were seemingly big swings. What happened?
