REVIEW: The Teaberry Strangler

A mystery by Laura Childs

Although not a mystery fan, I thought of some personal association, I’d feel as I begun reading this story, having walked the streets of Charleston. I’ve seen the cobblestone alleys, horse drawn carriages, old plantation homes and war relics The Battery and Fort Sumter, all familiar sights serving as backdrops for the story that would play out in these pages.

Set in modern day Charleston, South Carolina, our heroine Theodosia is amateur detective, Indigo Tea Shop owner and eye witness to the murder of our victim. Family and friends believe this is an open and shut case but she is discovering that things aren’t as clear-cut as they seem. With the introduction of each new face, there are more questions than answers but she refuses to shy away from getting to the truth, as she manages her tea shop, sorts through feelings for an old flame and discover who is trying to kill her. Each new character keeps the reader guessing although a far cry from serial killing and cover-up plots, this mild pace whodunit is ideal for the reader who just has fun reading.
