CALENDAR, July 25+: Folly Family Fun, storytelling. Godspell

00_calendar(NEW) Folly Family Fun nights:  5 p.m. to 7 p.m., July 26 and Aug. 2, Folly River Park, Center St., Folly Beach.  Entertainment, food and fun for the whole family.

(NEW)  Gullah storytelling:  10 a.m., July 27, James Island County Park, James Island.  For just $5, you can enter the world of Gullah culture and time-travel to experience their native language.

(NEW) Godspell:  July 29 to Aug. 21, Midtown Theatre, 2816 Azalea Drive, North Charleston.  Midtown Productions will offer multiple shows with two casts — one of child actors and another of adult performers — of the timeless musical Godspell.  Tickets range from $8 to $25.  More:  www.midtownproductions.org .

Prayer rally for race relations:  6:30 p.m., July 28, Marion Square, Charleston.  State Reps. Chip Limehouse (R-Charleston) and Wendell Gilliard (D-Charleston) will hold a prayer rally to focus on race relations.

Sales tax holiday.  Aug. 5 to Aug. 7.  The state’s annual Sales Tax Holiday weekend is less than a month away.   Families can save 6 percent on a broad array of exempt tax free items include paper, notebooks, pens and pencils, book bags, computers, clothing, shoes, bed linens and bath towels.

Bird walks: 8:30 a.m. to noon, every Wednesday and Saturday. This is the time of year that a great variety of migrating birds fly through the Lowcountry so what better time to take part in one of the regular early morning bird walks at Caw Caw Interpretive Center in Ravenel. Pre-registration is suggested. Cost is $10. Walks also are conducted on James Island and Folly Beach. Learn more online.
